How should I structure a Seedance 2.5 prompt?
Write it in this order, one or two sentences each:
- Camera: the movement and its speed. "Slow push-in", "steady orbit to the right".
- Subject: what we're looking at, with the details that matter.
- Action: what moves, and what stays still.
- Setting and light: where it happens and the light quality.
- Style: "realistic commercial footage", "cinematic, shallow depth of field".
Putting the camera first matters: it's the instruction video models most often ignore when it's buried at the end.
How do reference images work?
Attach images and refer to them by position: @Image 1, @Image 2. The model uses them to keep a product, a room or a character consistent.

How do reference videos work?
A reference video tells Seedance how to move, for example a camera path from a video you like. Reference videos are resized automatically to the model's limits before upload, and all reference videos together can't exceed 30 seconds.

Slow, steady push-in toward the large window of a minimalist living room. The sofa, rug and plants stay completely still. Warm late-afternoon sunlight casts long shadows across the oak floor. Realistic architectural video, no people.

Attaching a reference video changes the rate. Draft at 480p, then render the version you like at 1080p.
Common mistakes
- Two camera moves in one prompt. Split them into two clips.
- No "stays still". Without it, furniture and products may drift.
- Adjective soup. "Stunning, beautiful, amazing" adds nothing; describe light and materials instead.
- Ignoring the aspect ratio. Choose 9:16 for Reels before you generate, rather than cropping later.
